Immersion. I listen to podcasts or watch YouTube videos in Japanese. I take notes sometimes but I usually just listen

Use the language, make mistakes, only the ones that make mistakes can learn from it. Live the language. Hear people talking. My English teacher told me one time, that I would never learn it. I don`t know if my writing or my speech is good or bad, but I understand everything. How was these possible? Books are faster translated into English than in German... and I don`t like to wait x Years for a possible read. Find your own use of the target language and use it. For me it was reading and hearing youtube videos.
